Now that most of us have finished our paying our taxes, perhaps it is worth taking a few minutes to put the amount we just paid to the government into perspective.  Sure, it would be just great to be able to spend what we send to Ottawa and Victoria on ourselves, just once!  But check out our local real estate market performance for single family homes over the last year, April 2015-April 2016.  If you took the plunge any time int he past, your annual return on your total investments most likely provides a good deal of solace in relation to your combined tax bill!
